The WES Portal is a Java Specification Request (JSR)-168 compliant portal environment derived from open source (Liferay) and enhanced to meet geospatial portal access and display requirements. It is pre-configured with over 50 portlets and more than 20 community-contributed themes. Through the WES Portal, users can:
- understand, discover, access, share and organize geospatial information and content;
- publish and organize geospatial information and content for others to use;
- develop or use existing applications and toolkits to access portal services; and,
- manage the WES Portal infrastructure.
WES Portal provides over forty
useful portlets: Blogs, Document Management,
Message Boards, Wiki, Mail, Calendar, RSS, and
many, many more.
These bundled portlets are a great starting
point for a portal deployment. They can also
serve as a large code base of examples from
which custom portlets can be built.
Portlets can be restricted for different users
with its fine-grained permissioning. WES Portal
allows administrators to easily manage users,
organizations, locations, and roles.
In addition, the specialed geo portlets included
with WES Portal supports both
the BEA Web Logic and Tomcat J2EE environments.

WES Portal is a component
of Compusult’s Web
Enterprise Suite; a set of Internet-based
applications and toolkits that support Web mapping,
information cataloging, discovery, retrieval
and delivery services.
WES
Portal is also a contributor to the Open
Geospatial Consortium Catalogue Services
Interoperability initiative.
