The State of Missouri required a personal computer based Fixed Asset Inventory
Management Software (FAIMS) system that included having bar code readers scan
the fixed asset inventory and batching the stored information into the FAIMS
application for further manipulations, editing, querying, and reporting. This
application needed to accept legacy SAM II Access and/or Excel imported files
for inventory comparisons and generation of exception reports. The Access
and/or Excel files would be generated from SAM II, the State's current LAN
based, financial management system.
In addition, the system needed to provide inventory management capabilities
associated with common inventory management practices prevalent in both commercial
business and government operations and accept access from the State’s
extremely complex operating environment. This included multiple state agency
departments/divisions with multiple facilities within a department/division,
of which have multiple yet related satellite and branch offices, dial-in users,
users connected via a wide-area network are all potential users of the FAIMS.
Through FasseTracks two-tier, multi-user, client/server based environment,
FasseTrack provided the State of Missouri with a flexible, multi-user asset
management system meeting and or exceeding all requirements. The system was
implemented in much less time then was initially anticipated by the State.
